How It All Started

AB Gambling Hub began as a fairly simple idea: a place that gathered news about online slots and casino trends and wrote it up without the breathless tone so common in gambling coverage. Over time the questions readers sent in changed what the site needed to be. People wanted to know not only what was happening in the industry, but how a bet type actually worked, what a slot's information screen meant and why the house always keeps a share. The hub grew into a news and explainer desk to answer those questions.

Where the site stands today

The archive still reflects those early days, with many pieces on slot design and on gambling markets across Asia. Newer work fills in the gaps: a growing sports betting section that takes one market at a time, and a safer play section that treats limits and breaks as ordinary, sensible tools rather than an afterthought. Older articles are reviewed and refreshed when they no longer read clearly or when the facts around them have moved.

How an article comes together now

  1. A question comes first. Most pieces start from something a reader would plausibly type into a search bar, such as what a teaser is or how self-exclusion works.
  2. The mechanics are worked out. Before any writing, the team works through the rules and the arithmetic, so that every example adds up.
  3. Examples are labelled. Teams, prices and players in our examples are invented, and we say so in the text.
  4. A second read looks for promises. Anything that sounds like a guaranteed win, a secret method or advice to bet is cut.
  5. A safer play note is written fresh. Every article carries a reminder about age limits, local law or setting a budget, worded for that piece rather than pasted in.

What has not changed

Some principles were there from the beginning and remain fixed. The site has never taken bets and never will. It does not recommend or rank real operators, and it does not carry advertising for them. It is written for adults, and the team would rather an article leave someone better informed than more eager to play.

Where to start reading

If you are new to sports markets, our point spread explainer is a good first stop, followed by the pieces on teasers, futures and exchanges. For slots and casino trends, the archive is organised by category in the main menu. And if you would like to know how we treat errors, How We Fix Mistakes explains the process in a few short paragraphs.

Help us keep it useful

The hub changes because readers tell us what is unclear. If an explanation left you with more questions than answers, or you think a topic deserves its own article, write to us through Reach Us. We cannot promise to cover every suggestion, but every message is read by the people who write the site.

Our working rules

What every article has to pass today

The standards the desk applies to new pieces and to older ones when they are refreshed.

  • It answers a real question a reader might ask
  • Every sum in it has been worked through twice
  • Hypothetical prices are flagged as hypothetical
  • It carries a safer play line written for that piece
  • It contains no tip, no operator name and no promise of profit
